From May 16 to 17, Shanghai YF Vocational & Polytechnic School hosted the “Circularity Meets Creativity” Career Experience Days for middle and high school students. Nearly a thousand students explored the campus and discovered the charm of vocational education, material innovation, and circular design through hands-on activities.
Six creative courses—wooden artisan bags, foil engraving, “Time Light” jewelry, seal carving, embossed crafts, and Song Brocade art—focused on upcycling waste materials. Scrap wood was transformed into fashionable handbags, discarded plastics became creative accessories, and everyday overlooked materials were given a new life in the students’ hands.
As the corporate partner, IN2ORBITS brought real-world circular material applications and sustainable practices to the event, co-creating interactive experiences and exhibition spaces. A highlight was the plastic-shredding bicycle, where students powered the machine by pedaling, turning recycled bottle caps into granules, which were then transformed into small gifts to take home. For many, it was the first time seeing circular economy in action—real, tangible, and fun.
The event not only showcased the appeal of vocational education and creative design but also helped students and visitors understand the value of circularity, environmental innovation, and sustainable development. Through real-world cases and interactive experiences, IN2ORBITS aims to show that sustainability isn’t an abstract concept—it starts with everyday actions and small creations.
